Phylactery is an activated collectible added in Revelations Chapter Two.

Effects

Phylactery is a pocket active exclusive to both Dante and Charon. The effects are as follows.

  • When Dante and Charon are separated:
    • Using Phylactery will swap the player to the opposite character.
  • When Dante and Charon are joined:
    • Using Phylactery will swap the orientation of Charon by either pressing the arrow keys or the movement keys (configurable in the Revelations Options Menu.) This action can be done any number of times and does not take up charges.
  • At all times (passively):
    • Charon will gain 33% increased shot speed if facing the same shooting direction for 2 seconds, and 66% if facing the same direction for 7 seconds. Changing shooting directions removes this bonus.
      • This applies to Charon both while separate and while joined with Dante.

Notes

  • Phylactery is exclusive to Dante and Charon, and cannot be obtained by other characters.

Trivia

  • Phylactery is based off of the phylactery from Dungeons and Dragons, which is a cage-like object used to store a monster's soul, usually to make one's self a lich, and therefore, unkillable.
    • While the name "Phylactery" has meant many things throughout history, this description of a phylactery has become most common within fantasy fiction.
  • Other meanings for phylactery are as follows:
    • Leather boxes containing Torah verses worn by some Jews when praying.
    • An amulet or charm, worn for supposed magical power
    • A reliquary, a case in which (Christian) relics were preserved
